Frequently Asked Questions
Does KilnCraft require an internet connection?
No. KilnCraft works entirely offline. All your programs, sessions, and notes are stored on your iPhone with no internet access required.
How do I create a firing program?
Tap the "+" button on the Programs tab. The three-step wizard will guide you through choosing a firing type, clay body, target cone, and building your segments.
How do I log temperatures during a firing?
Start a session from the Programs tab. During the session, tap "Log Reading" and enter the current temperature from your pyrometer. The app will plot it on your firing curve.
What is the Auto-fill feature?
When building a program, tapping "Auto-fill" on the Segments step fills in recommended firing segments based on your firing type and target cone.
Where are my sessions stored?
All sessions are saved locally on your device. You can review them any time in the Journal tab, even without an internet connection.
How do I clear my data?
Go to the gear icon in the Programs tab toolbar to open Settings, then tap "Clear All Data". This removes all saved programs and sessions from your device.
What cone temperatures does the app include?
KilnCraft includes the full Orton cone chart from cone 022 (605 degrees Celsius) through cone 12 (1306 degrees Celsius), with both Celsius and Fahrenheit values.
